Brits 'click on .uk'
Wednesday, 14 February 2007
Online marketers hoping to speak to a British audience could do well to target websites with a .uk domain name, according to new research.
A new poll by YouGov has discovered that the vast majority of internet users believe sites with a local domain name will contain the information that is the most relevant to them.
Of the 2,000 Britons polled for domain registry Nominet, 33 per cent said the .uk suffix is essential in order to appeal to local internet users.
For the online marketer, this is a significant consideration when deciding about pay-per-click advertising and search engine optimisation.
