Google showing website menus in the serp?

Thursday, 25 August 2005

Back on the topic of new and unusual Google search engine results pages after the 5,3,2 dissatisfied layout , I just came across this permutation that I've never seen before.

The top organic listing is showing a selection of additional internal links beneath the display URL.  Considering the amount of content on the website they seem pretty random in choice.

Googledeeplinks2 Anyone else seen anything similar?

Weird, I wonder how they select the list of items. Had a look at the backlinks for the specifc pages, nothing special.

Other queries returning similar results:
london cinemas
london hotels
london jobs

Strange that it only works with London apparently. tried with Paris, new york, etc... doesn't return similar results.

Probably an engineer from london headquarters working on this project...

I had found the result also for a search related to Cuba, if you search for "Varadero" (a beach in Cuba), one of the sites in the results shows this "menu". Did not found how they select the items, nor why...

THES also returns internal links on google. It is the organisation that lists university world rankings.
